Schedule the release
Choose the day and the time the collar should drop off. The release unit keeps its own clock, so it releases on time without this computer.
Release now
The release unit opens at once and the collar drops off. Once the collar has dropped, this cannot be undone. The collar keeps reporting its position so you can collect it.
Press and hold for 3 seconds.
Close the latch
Runs the motor the other way, to shut the release unit again. The motor cannot tell when it has reached the end: it runs until you press Stop, or for 30 seconds at most. Stop also ends a release that is running.
A safety net. If its battery is nearly worn out, the release unit lets the collar go by itself, so a flat battery cannot leave the collar on the animal. It does this only above 0 °C, and only after the release unit has been thawed for several hours: never in freezing conditions. A release you schedule, here or through the collar, is not changed by this switch.

Release unit software
Keep the release unit next to the computer until the update has finished. It checks the update, then restarts to use it, which takes a few seconds. Its paired collar and a scheduled release are kept. If the update is interrupted, the release unit keeps running the software it has: start the update again.
